Speak out against a COMPLETE smoking ban
The forces of tyranny are tireless, and Indianapolis Libertarians must now fight for the side of freedom.
Once again, the idea of a complete, across-the-board, smoking ban in Indianapolis has arisen, and an official proposal was introduced at this past Monday’s Indianapolis City-County Council meeting (Oct 5). To read the amended proposal, sponsored by Councillors Hunter (R), Mansfield (D), Malone (R) and Evans (D), click here: http://www.indy.gov/eGov/Council/Proposals/Documents/PROP09-371.pdf Â

ACTUAL WORK IS NOW REQUIRED OF US LIBERTARIANS. First, we need you to alert your area bars/restaurants. To find bars that have a 210 Restaurant license, download this Excel Sheet. (please let us know if you have updated information: chair@indylp.org)
Offer to arm them with literature, and inform them of the other information below. Print out quarter-page flyers for your district here: http://www.saveindianapolisbars.com/handout
Then…
Contact your councillor and tell them to VOTE “NO” on 371! The proposed smoking ban passed out of committee 4-2. The FINAL VOTE will be on Monday, October 26 at 7:00pm in the main assembley room on the second floor of the Indianapolis City-County Building (200 E. Washington St). Attendees are encouraged to show up at least an hour before the hearing to get through security and get a seat.
All of those opposed to a complete smoking ban in Marion County are encouraged to wear red to signify “NO!”. We won’t be allowed to speak, but your attendance will speak volumes to the councilors. Also, encourage your customers and employees who are opposed to the measure to contact their city-county councilors and express their opinion.
Specifically, those councilors who are against us or are undecided are the following. These councillors all need to hear from us:

Smoking Bans DO Have Economic ConsequencesBy Evan Matthews, a Hoosier Libertarian. INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Smoking bans are onerous, misguided and dangerous. As Indianapolis lawmakers debate whether the Circle City requires more stringent smoking legislation, they should stop to consider the economic and realistic implications.
