What madness is this?

Anno Domini Two Thousand Eight, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-second.  This is the year the republic died.

soldout.gifOr at least it seems.

I have been watching national events over the past couple weeks with an increasing amount of disbelief.  In the late 1970’s, I was born into an America that still resembled a republic.  One that still was held together by the constitution.

Last month alone, I have seen the nationalization of Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, and (I still can’t believe this one) AIG.  Thankfully, Lehman Bros was allowed to die, but how many more will be “saved”?

“We’re the government, and we’re here to help.”

We temporarily dodged a bullet last week; as the bailout plan was defeated.  But Pres. Bush and the leaders of the old two parties in Congress pledged to try again.  The Senate passed a diffferent version of the bailout that actually increased the amount to $800 Billion…AND BOTH MCCAIN AND OBAMA VOTED YES!

BREAKING NEWS from WXNT: the House just today passed the Senate version of the bailout, and it will now be signed into law by Republican President Bush.  Democrat Andre’ Carson switched sides and voted YES for this corporate welfare.

This bailout is not freedom.  This is socialism.  Or maybe something even more complex: economic fascism.

The practical characteristics of fascist economics are that:
1) The state is more important than the individual.
2) The establishment of Government-business ‘partnerships’
3) Major industries which are deemed essential are planned centrally
4) Mercantilism and protectionism are established to favor major domestic industries

Yes, that is what we’re doing, and that is what is being fiercely promoted by Republican President Bush, Republican House Leader John Boehner, Democrat Congressman Andre’ Carson, Republican Senator John McCain, Democrat Senator Barack Obama, Democrat Congressman Barney Frank, Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Republican Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, and many others.

One thing is certain: no one can ever again deny that the Republicans are part of the problem. Both the old decrepit parties are pushing us towards socialism. Both are takings our freedoms. Both are taking our money, either through taxation or inflation.

But don’t worry, all is forgiven for us, the voters. Because before now, you might have been able to claim ignorance, and I acknowledge that. Even some candidates this year might be forgiven as well, as they cannot be expected to drop off the ballot at this late date. But starting today, the slate is wiped clean, and as of today you know the truth.

Mark my words, if you vote Republican (or Democrat) again, or run as one of their candidates, YOU WILL BE MARKED AS THE ENEMY.  If you currently hold office and refuse to denounce your old party, you will be known as the enemy as well.  For now you know for certain the destructive ways of the two old decrepit parties, and by voting for them you are KNOWINGLY choosing socialism.

I will fight the enemy until freedom prevails.

P.S. The phones are ringing off the hook at Barr campaign headquarters right now with people shifting their support to Bob Barr because of McBama’s support of the bailout. No matter how the House vote turns out, this is the time for us to be able to connect with a large block of voters on the Internet and let them know that Bob Barr, Libertarian candidate for President, is adamantly opposed to any taxpayer bailout of Wall Street, and he will be on the ballot in Indiana this November. The time for action is NOW!

The Barr Campaign is working on radio and television spots specifically related to the bailout that was just passed by the U.S. House.  Given that our phones have been ringing non-stop thanks to angry Americans who have had enough of the two parties, it’s clear this is the issue to hammer home until Election Day.  We’ll have them ready this weekend so please donate today to help get the message out.
